Cortex-Get-Distance-between-2-gps-points

A useful subtask that will return the elliptical distance between two gps coordinates. It uses the following input variables:

  • i_gps-coord1
    • a comma separated input that references gps coordinate 1 e.g. 51.5018174,-0.0868255
  • i_gps-coord2
    • a comma separated input that references gps coordinate 2 e.g. 51.5081765,-0.0987105
  • i_lat1
    • if i_pgs-coord1 is not supplied you can supply the gps coordinates as separate values. In this case the latitude value for coordinate 1
  • i_long1
    • if i_pgs-coord1 is not supplied you can supply the gps coordinates as separate values. In this case the longitude value for coordinate 1
  • i_lat2
    • if i_pgs-coord2 is not supplied you can supply the gps coordinates as separate values. In this case the latitude value for coordinate 2
  • i_long2
    • if i_pgs-coord2 is not supplied you can supply the gps coordinates as separate values. In this case the longitude value for coordinate 2

And returns the distance by means of a text variable called *o_distance The value returned is in meters

Use Case example

One example that this might be useful is to use the distance between two mobile cells to see if a neighbouring cell could take over communications.

Installation Instructions

Download the Studio Package file and Import it into your Cortex Environment. Don't forget to apply rights using the Studio Authorization module.

👍 Enjoy! 😉
