I believe getting the list of all modules can be useful, but it's also probably good to have a utility function, calling getStartedModulesVersion, that would return the version of a provided module.
In Jahia that was unnecessary since there's only one Jahia, but for modules, if the person calling it is only interested in one single module, it will be necessary to filter, and this filter will likely be present almost everywhere getStartedModulesVersion is called.
