Lots of change here to bring Verity up to incremental updates.
This will be the last "all the things" pull request.
At this stage the application now runs and interacts with the database in a controlled and tested way. There is still lots of work to do as the database class is messy, but this was a initial POC to get things rolling.
Tests have been added and should run when this PR opens
