Hi there!

🚀 About Me

I’m Colin Kirby, a recent Computer Engineering grad (UCF) building at the intersection of software, finance, and data. I like turning messy datasets into clear, useful products—clean back ends, simple UIs, and readable code. I’m growing through hands-on projects now and plan to pursue a technical master’s soon.

🛠️ What I’m building

  • Centi — a modern personal-finance app that connects bank accounts (Plaid), supports CSV imports, and turns activity into clear insights and a simple Centi Score.
  • My Portfolio Website — an interactive showcase for projects plus a small CSS/UI cheat sheet I use to design faster.

✅ Selected projects (past work)

  • SentimentTrader — pure-Python pipeline that pulls Reddit chatter, runs sentiment, and generates next-day stock-movement signals.
Overview & docs on my LinkedIn Projects page.
  • SecureScape — portable, offline perimeter security with on-device person detection (ESP32-CAM) and a Flutter app for alerts.
Code: Core System · Mobile App · Website
  • ShelfVision — dense retail-shelf object detection with a custom PyTorch pipeline (ResNet-50 + FPN) and OpenCV tooling.
    Code: I2DLproj

🎶 Outside Tech

I’m big on consistent growth and staying active outside the editor:

  • 🎸 Music: I love playing guitar & piano, studying music theory is so interesting, its just a unique process that I really enjoy.
  • 🗣️ Languages: learning Spanish , I grew up around a lot of native spanish speakers and it was so interesting hearing the different ways people express themselves across languages
  • 🏋️ Active: gym, 🏀 basketball, 🏈 football, 🏌️‍♂️ golf, 🚣 rowing
  • ✍️ Art & Design: writing, doodling, any creative outlet really
  • 🎧 Mindset: self-improvement & mental fitness podcasts (Chris Williamson, Mark Manson, Alex Hormozi)
