Hi! I'm Dan.

I spend most of my time wrangling systems to make things talk to each other, and make it all secure in the process. In free time, I enjoy researching things to make my (and everyone elses) lives easier, primarily through automating things. More automation == more time to learn. I'm currently most interested in global scale storage systems and hyperscale architecture such as GFS/Colossus, Dropbox, and distributed filesystems like Ceph and SeaweedFS. I also dabble a bit in OSINT as it's part of the day job.

90% of my problems are explaining technical things to nontechnical people, and I'm quite passionate about finding better ways to do it.

imo everything should have an API and an event bus.

I don't really use GitHub that much? Most of my stuff goes in to private repos elsewhere 👀
