About

Hush is a privacy cryptocurrency forked from Zcash (which is forked from Bitcoin.) It takes advantage of Zcash protocol features that provide anonymity by mathematical processes (shielded addresses and zero knowledge proofs, zkSnarks) that prevent exploitable metadata from ever being recorded on the blockchain. This means the sender and receiver addresses as well as the transaction amounts are impossible to discern without the appropriate private keys. The end result is that Bob can verify Alice's identity without Alice actually telling Bob who she is.

Cryptocurrencies are decentralized from governments but if the community can't be a part of any decisions, is it really decentralized? Hush is not owned or controlled by any company or organization. It is developed and driven completely by our community.

  • Private Messaging Hush Messenger is a state-of-the-art private messaging protocol built in HushNG.

  • Counterparty port

Need to give brief description of what Counterparty is. A Counterparty Port to Hush enables public and private asset issuance. Ethereum developers will be able to easily author smart contracts on Hush, enjoying the added benefits of zkSnarks.

Need clarification.
  • Does this mean Hush wallets listen on the standard Counterparty port?
  • How exactly do smart contracts integrate with zkSnarks?
  • Does this mean you can send a transaction AND a contract without exposing sender/receiver/amount/and the fact a contract exists?
  • Is the contract in the memo field used by hushlist?

HushNG

HushNG

Messenger, Wallet, Miner, and Asset Issuance Platform All-in-one, Hush NG is a high-speed messaging, transaction, and asset platform for the blockchain.

Leveraging a zkSnarks core, HushNG enables rapid messaging, transacting and issuance for private or public addresses, on all platforms.

Need clarification on HushNG.
  • Is HushNG an application? Is this something people download and run locally or is it web-based?
  • What rapid messaging are we referring to? Is this Hush Messaging? What makes it rapid? Is it unique to Hush?

In final stages of development and coming soon.

For Miners
Hush is consistently among the Top 10 equihash coins to mine. You can mine simply with your [Zcash miner](https://forum.myhush.org/t/hush-mining-quickstart-guide/13).

Hushlist

Hushlist is a program which allows communicating via Hush transactions. You can send messages to around 50 people simultaneously, allowing for encrypted mailing-list style messaging.

Hush is a fork of Zcash (which is a fork of Bitcoin), which allows transactions involving shielded addresses in addition to normal transparent Bitcoin addresses. This allows transactions without disclosing sender, receiver, message (or even that a message existed), or financial transaction amount.

Hushlist supports Hush and Zcash (mainnet and testnet). Komodo will supported in the future, although it's not clear yet which versions.

Messages are encoded within the protocol that Hush uses (Zcash). This allows several important things to happen.

  • The type of traffic is obscured. A man-in-the-middle attack cannot tell if a transaction is a financial transaction, a conversation, or both.

  • The conversation is encrypted within the blockchain protocol itself, rather than being encrypted as a separate piece. Because the (encrypted) message is publicly posted with the blockchain this guarantees a specific thing was said at a specific time to a specific person or group of people. All anyone needs is the key to unlock it.

  • Keys are tied to a specific send/receive address. You may create as many addresses as you like as often as you like, similar to creating email addresses.

BarterDEX

BarterDEX is a cryptocurrency exchange(1) developed by Komodo, which supports HUSH and many other currencies. It allows you to exchange one cryptocurrency for another, just as you would exchange paper money in a currency exchange in an airport. It does this using a technology called Atomic Swaps. Atomic Swaps allow buyers and sellers to perform exchanges peer to peer (P2P) rather than through a centralized exchange. In the most simple terms, it acts as a sort of escrow.

Example: Bob wants to sell some HUSH and buy KMD. Alice wants to sell KMD and buy HUSH. Bob and Alice are strangers. Using BarterDEX's order-matching process, Bob and Alice can do business with each other. Bob sends his HUSH. As long as Alice sends her KMD within the agreed upon timeframe the exchange is complete. But if Alice fails to uphold her end of the agreement, Bob’s HUSH is returned to him.

You can sign up on the Komodo site to be notified when it is released.

You can also monitor the release page.

There are dozens of currencies that are supported. You can find the up to date list here.

It's a very straightforward and intuitive UI. Tell it what you have to offer and what you are looking for.
