Migrating self-nomination from #50 (comment) as part of switching to PR-based process: #34

Hello everyone,

I’d like to nominate myself for commit access. I’ve been using NixOS for two years now, and during that time, I've contributed to maintaining several pieces of the observability stack that I rely on for my own infrastructure:

Additionally, I’ve been involved in maintaining Kafka (in collaboration with @srhb), made small contributions to XMPP (@toastal), and more recently, I’ve been working on integrating Temporal into NixOS. @misuzu has also graciously merged a number of my PRs.

As part of these contributions, I've also written numerous integration tests to help ensure that package upgrades are smooth and reliable.

I endorse your self-nomination @jpds

Frankly you've done most of the maintenance-work on Kafka for the past year and more, and that has just been lovely. ❤️

I endorse @jpds he has been doing all the work in maintaining vector, adding complex test cases to make sure everything is working as intended.

I had the chance to meet @jpds in person at NixCon 2025. He's an excellent contributor. I support his gaining the commit bit.

Thank you for your contributions, @jpds! We appreciate the work you’re doing as a maintainer and PR author. However, being a committer is more about reviewing and merging the work of others, and looking at your reviews we don’t feel we have enough information just yet to approve based on our guidelines.

We’d be happy to review your application again in the future after you’ve built up a larger body of substantive reviews.
