Migrating nomination from #50 (comment) as part of switching to PR-based process: #34

Hey all!

I'd like to nominate @Prince213 for commit access. He recently organized the first NixOS conference in China and was a speaker at NixCon 2025.

He is very active in the NixOS CN chatroom, and I've met him in person at AOSCC 2025. He's very passionate about Nix, and he is an extremely pleasant and obliging person.

The stats show he has:

in only 5 months, which I'd say is extremely productive.

He also daily-drives macOS and is in the NixOS/darwin-maintainers team. I think nominating him will greatly improve nixpkgs's Darwin ecosystem.

Thanks for the nomination and endorsement.

I've been in the Nix community for a few months right now. It's not a long time, but I've accumulated experiences on different aspects of Nixpkgs such as packaging, NixOS modules, tests and various programming languages and frameworks. I've also fixed some build failures along the way.

I've participated in Summer of Nix 2025. Recently I've organized NixOS CN Meetup NixOS/nixpkgs#1 which is the first regional Nix meetup in mainland China. I've also given a talk in NixCon 2025 about how the combination of Nix & NixOS helps us drop Kubernetes for a organic system that is much easier to maintain.

My past work in Nixpkgs itself are primarily about updating packages, cleaning up and fixing build failures. Some of my other work are in NGIpkgs and are more about packaging as well as writing NixOS modules & tests.

Currently I maintain / co-maintain some 27 packages in Nixpkgs and a few projects in NGIpkgs.
As a member of @NixOS/darwin-maintainers I also try to help with package testing on my aarch64-darwin machine.

Some of my notable contributions include:

I use nix-darwin & NixOS as daily drivers and many of the machines I manage use NixOS so my focus will be on packages I use daily from jujutsu to qt6.qtwebengine.

Commit access will allow me to review and merge PRs both for my own use (but of course with care) and on less popular domains (in terms of reviewer interests and supporting infrastructures).

Statistics:

Disclosure of potential conflict of interests: Some of my works are done as part of Summer of Nix, and I worked with @ethancedwards8 in the same program.

I should add that @Prince213 organised the first NixOS China meetup in August. His hard work has made everyone's experience satisfying and enhanced the cohesion and influence of the Chinese community.

!endorse @Prince213. Had the pleasure of working with him in this year's Summer of Nix, where he demonstrated a wide range of skills, both in Nixpkgs and NGIpkgs. In brief, he's an excellent contributor and a very enjoyable person to collaborate with.

!endorse @Prince213, +1 to everything said about him so far. Was nice to work with him on NGIpkgs things every once in awhile, where he made a competent impression on me.

Strong endorsement for @Prince213.

We have worked together on a few PRs and his contributions are of high quality. It is always nice to discuss with him due to his good insights, taste and communication skills.

Though I am not involved, I think this PR is a good example demonstrating his ability to pinpoint and fix a bug hiding deeply in Nixpkgs.

I gave him some guidance at the beginning of his Nixpkgs journey and our discussion about Nix continues since then. I have also met him in person at a few meetups. I can feel his passion about Nix in our conversations.

He has only been active in Nixpkgs for about 3/4 year. However, considering his commitment and passion, I believe giving him commit access would be beneficial to our community.

I endorse @Prince213 .
Being one of the top candidates in this year's Summer of Nix, in very short time he demonstrated skills and passion for Nix needed for this privilege. Also, I met him during NixCon. He is very nice person to talk to and I believe, by supporting Sizhe with commit access, we are going to be tiny bit better and stronger again.
