Did you know that tech philanthropy has its roots in the early days of computing? In the 1980s, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates wrote a program called "Donkey" for the TRS-80 Model 1 computer. Users would pay a fee to play the game, and Gates donated the proceeds to charity.
