Mobile device video

Mobile videos recorded with iOS and Android devices are encoded in H.264 and uploaded in MP4 file format.

iOS videos

iOS devices record HEVC or H.264 movies and store them in the MOV QuickTime file format which is different than the MP4 file format. The Piwigo iOS app therefore converts movies to the MP4 format before uploading them to Piwigo servers.

By default videos include GPS metadata and rotation metadata.

Android videos

The files are in MP4 format by default. No transcoding is need.

Videos never include the GPS metadata but do include rotation metadata.
