Background

The AERD glider team uses Slocum G3 gliders in place of ships for oceanography and acoustic surveys around the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. This repo is a place where files are used as templates for specific missions with specific payload build outs.

Folders

Standard glider files

These files are used on Persistor (up to 8.6) or Processor (10 +) Slocum G3 gliders. They are not a comprehensive set of files, but files that are used by AMLR on their gliders.

Glider

These files are to be used on the glider computer.

Mafiles

Files that are used with missions such as sampleXX.ma, surfacXX.ma, and yoXX.ma. These go into the mafiles folder on the glider computer.

Mission

Files that run using the run or loadmission commands. These files have file extensions of .mi. These go into the missions folder on the glider computer.

Config

Files found in the Config folder.

Science

These files are to be used on the science computer.

Config

Files found in the Config folder.

Sensors

Sensor specific files that go in the Science computer Config folder.

AZFP - The AZFP uses azfp.cfg and azfp.ini

Nortek - The Nortek compact echosounder uses ad2cp.cfg and ad2cp.ini

Solocam - The glidercam and shadowgraph both use the same files solocam.cfg and solocam.ini. The solocam software currently has two different versions, version 2 and version 3. Version 3 have more options that can be configured when the glider is deployed and is currently only on gliders running version 10.09 and higher operating systems.

Cache

This is all the cache files that have been pulled from all of our gliders, both from the glider and science computers, both cac and ccc.

SFMC Scripts

Scripts that are used on the Slocum Fleet Mission Control (SFMC) for doing specific tasks.

Waypoint plans

These are standard waypoint plans that the US AMLR program uses. Rename the file to goto_lXX.ma where XX is the waypoint plan that your mission is pointing to.
