Downloading a Warcraft III Map

This is a quick and easy guide on how you can download a map to your computer and then open it from Warcraft III.

Step 1: Downloading the map

There are many sources of Warcraft III maps out there. Some of them will be listed below, but, in this guide, we will be downloading and setting up Titan Land: Lands of Plenty. We can find the latest release of the map in the GitHub repository, under the releases tab:

Look for the latest release, and download the zip file (if there are 2 files, the labeled _unprot is not meant for playing). You can download it by clicking on the link to the file.

Step 2: Extracting the file

Now that you have saved the ZIP file, you have to extract it's content, which should be a single .w3x file. You must extract it to the following folder: Documents\Warcraft III\Maps\Download

  • If you don't have a Maps folder in your Warcraft III documents folder, then create a new folder and name it maps.
  • If you don't have a Download folder in your Maps folder, then you can just extract the file to the Maps folder itself. However, any maps you download from Battle.net will be stored in the Download folder, so it's better to have all your custom maps there.

Step 3: Opening the map in Warcraft III

  1. After launching Warcraft III, click on Singeplayer.
  2. Click on Custom Game.
  3. Click on Download, then find Titan Land: LoP vX.Y.Z (where X, Y and Z are the version numbers of the latest release). Now, just start the game. When playing in singleplayer, you should be the Titan (red color).
