This Repo is a guide to use Flipnote on MelonDS with a few steps that includes a pack.
- Download the latest release from this repo
- Download "flipnotemelonDS_windows.zip"
- Extract the zip file.
- Go inside the extracted file, go through the files "MelonDS", and "melonDS_0.9.4_win_x64" (no captions).
- Two config (.ini) files are included (NA and EU). Choose which config file to use, then edit one of those files using Notepad.
- Scroll down to the "FirmwarePath=" section and replace the sample path with the path to those files.
- When finished, save the file and rename the file to "MelonDS" (without quotations).
- Open the MelonDS app.
- To run the BIOS, click on "File", then "Boot Firmware". You should see the emulator booting up.
- Open Flipnote and Have Fun!
Example:
DSiBIOS9Path=C:/Users/(USER)/Downloads/flipnotemelonDS_windows.zip/BIOS/EU BIOS/biosdsi9.bin DSiBIOS7Path=C:/Users/(USER)/Downloads/flipnotemelonDS_windows.zip/BIOS/EU BIOS/biosdsi7.bin DSiFirmwarePath=C:/Users/(USER)/Downloads/flipnotemelonDS_windows.zip/BIOS/EU BIOS/dsfirmware.bin DSiNANDPath=C:/Users/(USER)/Downloads/flipnotemelonDS_windows.zip/BIOS/EU BIOS/dsinand.bin
If the path is in the "Downloads" folder, just replace (USER) with the name of your user path.
If replacing the BIOS files didn't work, close the config file, open the app, select "Config" then Emu settings. Select "DSi-Mode", and choose the directory to the BIOS files maually.
When Finished, press "OK".
Try seeing if the BIOS boots up.
- Q: Can I use MelonDS to access any active DSi Flipnote replacement server?
- Q: What Flipnote revivals allow the use of emulators?
If the replacement server allows it, then go ahead, use it, if you want to. If not, don't use it.
Before using it, check their TOS FIRST. I am NOT reponsible for ANY users getting banned because of this.
Faithnote MAY, but its server isn't released to the public yet.
