Scaling Frontend-Backend Integration for Production

To scale TaskFlow for production:

Frontend:

  • Deploy the frontend separately on Vercel or Netlify with environment variables pointing to your backend API.
  • Use code-splitting and lazy loading (React.lazy, Suspense) to reduce initial load.
  • Cache static assets with long-lived headers and use a CDN for global asset delivery.

Backend:

  • Containerize the backend using Docker for environment consistency.
  • Use a process manager like PM2 for node processes and host via Render, Railway, or a managed VPS.
  • Enforce rate limiting, logging, and monitoring using tools like morgan, winston, and third-party observability services.
  • Move secrets (JWT secret, DB URI) into a secrets manager or use .env with strict production permissions.

Integration:

  • Ensure CORS is configured correctly between frontend and backend.
  • Use HTTPS everywhere (SSL cert via Let's Encrypt or managed hosting).
  • Structure backend with route versioning (e.g., /api/v1/tasks) for forward compatibility.

This foundation supports modular growth, API gateway insertion, microservices, or GraphQL in future upgrades.
