🖥️ Corex Linux

Revive your hardware. Relive the era.

Corex Linux is a custom lightweight distribution based on Arch Linux. It is designed specifically for users migrating from Windows who want to breathe new life into older or "incompatible" hardware.

In a world of bloatware and high system requirements, Corex takes a step back to simplicity. We combine the rock-solid stability of a modern Linux kernel with a retro, classic Windows-style interface—complete with the startup sounds and workflows you remember.

Who are we?

  • ** We are enthusiasts which are Developing for fun and we want to bring People TRUST. Being Open Source means more trust. Because anytime, anyone can easily check if the Data is sent to someone. So there is NO SPYWARE.
  • We want Corex Linux to be Linux which is also easy to use as Windows. Because why not?

🚀 Why Corex?

  • ♻️ Built for the "Incompatible": Perfect for PCs left behind by Windows 11 requirements. If it turns on, Corex can likely run on it.
  • 🪟 Familiar Territory: A carefully tuned UI that mimics the golden era of Windows. No steep learning curve—just a Start menu, taskbar, and desktop.
  • ⚡ Blazing Fast: stripped down to the essentials. No telemetry, no forced updates, no background bloat. Desktop Environment Performance (I promise).
  • 🐧 Archlinux Power: Under the hood, it's pure Arch. You get access to thousands of packages, pacman package manager, and industry-standard security.
  • ** Also the Corex-Linux might replace Windows (even with 5% chances) if people will think that Windows costs too much.
  • 🔊 The Full Experience: Includes nostalgic startup sounds and audio cues to make the system feel "alive" and welcoming.
  • ** Well. If your PC is strong enough even for Windows 11 but you decided to switch to Linux. We also Provide Corex-Linux KDE Edition, Gnome Edition and COSMIC Edition.
  • ** For lower PCs we highly recommend using Corex-Linux XFCE Edition.
  • ** Server? No problem. There is also Corex-Linux (Server) which has no Desktop Environment and has only Terminal. You can also use Corex-Linux XFCE Edition if its too hard to use. I know we are not as perfect as Debian or Rad Hat. But at least we will try to :)

✨ Key Features

  • Base: Arch Linux for latest driver support.
  • Interface: Custom-themed lightweight Desktop Environment (optimized for low RAM usage).
  • Boot: He has got a name. Its Systemd. Boot process which shows you as User (or Administrator) what your System is exactly doing. You can see what is Turned On and what is running.
  • Portability: Live ISO support—run it from a USB stick without touching your hard drive.

🎯 The Mission

Corex aims to prove that you don't need to buy a new computer to have a secure, modern operating system. By wrapping the power of Linux in a familiar, nostalgic interface, we make the switch easy for everyone. Remember. The Software has to be free! We use only what we trust. GNU Software.

Made with ❤️ for the community.
