The World's First Unified Taxonomy of Fighting Techniques

The Problem

Hundreds of martial arts have techniques that exist only in oral tradition — passed from teacher to student with no written record. They will be lost if not documented.

Current resources are fragmented: BJJ techniques on one site, Judo on another, striking on a third. The same armbar exists in BJJ, Judo, Sambo, and MMA — but is documented separately in each, with no connection between them.

No single resource covers all fighting techniques across all arts in a unified system.

Until now.

What We Built

Fight Encyclopedia catalogs fighting techniques across all martial arts and combat sports into a single, scientifically organized taxonomy — like a biological classification system for combat.

Every technique is documented with biomechanical analysis, Japanese names, danger ratings, competition legality, verified references, counter techniques, and setup chains.

The 7-Level Taxonomy

Every technique is classified using a biological-style hierarchy — from broadest class down to specific variety:

Class ─── Group ─── Family ─── SubFamily ─── Genus ─── Species ─── Variety

Example:

Submission > Choke & Strangle Lock > Leg Choke > Triangular Strangle
  > Triangle Choke > Triangle From Closed Guard > Standard Triangle

This reveals connections invisible in traditional resources: a Judo juji-gatame and a BJJ armbar are classified as the same technique. A wrestling double leg and a Judo morote-gari share the same biomechanical family.
