Project description
Updates: July 21 - As sent to Lynn and Marc
A tool to guide job seekers, in plain language, to the jobs or careers that match their skills, goals, and needs.
To improve the user experience for job seekers by helping them use clear, everyday language to match their skills, experience, and goals to job categories and careers as they look for opportunities that can change their lives.
We are focused on occupations that require an associate’s degree or industry certificate and people who:
- have low- to middle- levels of skills who do not know how to explain their abilities clearly
- may not know the full range of occupations where their skills apply
- are changing jobs or returning from military service
- have soft skills, but little professional experience
An extension of There’s a Job for That! could be created to assist employers in writing job descriptions that job seekers will recognize, and therefore attract a wider pool of applicants.
There’s a Job for That! can be a small stand-alone app, or can be embedded on larger jobs sites, providing a user-friendly feature that is similar to existing tools like the Skills Profiler on CareerOneStop or OKJobMatch , but does the work of translating the dataset into language job-seekers can understand and act on.
