Environment Variables

The project settings are present in environment variables located in the .env files of the project root.

There are three modes loaded by vue-cli-service:

  • development used by ionic serve
  • production used by ionic build
  • test used by the test commands

The .env files are loaded in the following order with the specific files having higher priorities and overriding the previous ones in case of duplicated vars:

.env # loaded in all cases
.env.local # loaded in all cases, ignored by git
.env.[mode] # only loaded in specified mode
.env.[mode].local # only loaded in specified mode, ignored by git

Important: In case a private variable needs to be configured, place them in the .local files, they are configured to be ignored by GIT

For additional information see: https://cli.vuejs.org/guide/mode-and-env.html
