π‘ Arduino SPI Interface with MAX7219 LED Driver π Overview
This project demonstrates how to control the MAX7219 LED driver IC using SPI communication on an Arduino UNO. The MAX7219 is a popular serially interfaced IC used to control 8x8 LED matrices or seven-segment displays efficiently with minimal wiring.
In this demo, the Arduino sends 8 custom data bytes to display a custom pattern on an LED matrix using SPI.

}π§ Explanation
SPI.transfer() sends one byte of data through the MOSI line.
write_to_MAX7219() is a helper function to send both the register address and data byte.
The MAX7219_init() function sets up the display mode, brightness, and scan limits.
In loop(), 8 rows are updated sequentially to form a custom LED pattern on the matrix.
Example byte pattern (visualized as binary):
0x3C β 00111100 0x42 β 01000010 0x95 β 10010101 0xA1 β 10100001 ...
This forms a symmetrical custom icon or design.
