Most of this software is governed by the CeCILL-B license under French law and abiding by the rules of distribution of free software.
A few exceptions to this licensing exist, for embedded external libraries code which have been copied in the sources of AIMS for convenience. These parts are:

ecat library: the ecat directly contains code which is a copy of the Ecat IO library from the University of Louvain (Belgium) available at http://www.topo.ucl.ac.be/ecat_Clib.html It also includes a few modifications and fixes which are not part of the official distribution.
