This construction has a **lot of open questions about liveness**: what happens to the L3 head if the L2 head stops processing transactions? This pessimistic case can always happen in an optimistic protocol and needs to be dealt with, but not optimized for. Despite of this and other unknowns, we spent some time this month to explore whether its even possible in spike issue [#1590](https://github.com/cardano-scaling/hydra/issues/1590).
