##Abstract. Prediction of the translation initiation site is of vital importance in bioinformatics since through this process it is possible to understand the organic formation and metabolic behavior of living organisms. However the computational cost for balancing not TISs sequences, used in algorithms to make predictions of initiation sites is very high. Therefore this paper presents the implementation and evaluation of the k-modes algorithm for CUDA execution on GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). The results indicate that with the implementation of the CUDA-K-modes algorithm has achieved a speedup of 5000 times over the sequential version, without compromising the quality of classification.

##Resumo.
A Predição de sítios de início de tradução são de vital importância para bioinformática, é através desse processo que é possível entender a formação orgânica e metabólica de todos os organismos. Porém o custo para o balanceamento de sequências não SITs, usado em algoritmos para efetuar predições de SITs é muito alto. Desse modo este trabalho apresenta a implementação e avaliação do algoritmo k-modes em CUDA para execução em GPUs (Graphics Processing Units). Os resultados apontam que com a implementação em CUDA do algoritmo K-modes foi possível obter um speedup de 5000 vezes em relação a versão sequencial, sem comprometer a qualidade de classificação.
