SceneKitVehicle

This 3D car game is a direct port to CodeFlow of a WWDC 214 code sample demonstrating the use of SceneKit on iOS. It shows the benefits that live-coding can bring in this type of application, by changing the game logic or rendering parameters in real-time while playing to the game.

This is also a good example of a class-extension-based application where methods of a class originally defined in Objective-C are (re)defined in Lua. You can see in the code that some methods of the original code has been kept untouched in Objective-C while other have been rewritten and improved in Lua.

This code sample is also available as a project template in CodeFlow.

Configuration required

A Mac with Celedev CodeFlow version 1.0.2 or later, and Xcode 7 or later.

Works on iPhone or iPad, running iOS 8.3 or later.

How to use this code sample

  1. Open the CodeFlow project for this sample application.
This will automatically update the associated Xcode project, so that paths and other build settings are correctly set for your environment.

  2. Open the associated Xcode project. You can do this in CodeFlow with the menu command Program -> Open Xcode Project.

  3. Run the application on a device or in the simulator.

  4. Enjoy the power of live coding with CodeFlow

Troubleshooting

  • Some libraries / header files in the sample app Xcode project are missing

⇒ Fix: simply open the corresponding CodeFlow project, and CodeFlow will update the associated Xcode project, so that paths and libraries are correctly set.
