Packages prom exporter

This Prometheus Exporter informs you about the current Yum and APT updates.

Requirements

The exporter requires Python3 and pip3 for installation.

Ubuntu / Debian

apt-get update && apt-get install python3 pip python3-apt git -y

Red Hat based

yum install python3 pip3 git -y

Installation

pip3 install git+https://github.com/centriascolocation/packages-prom-exporter.git

systemd

Create this file /etc/systemd/system/packages-prom-exporter.service:

[Unit]
Description=This Prometheus Exporter informs you about the current Yum and APT updates.

[Service]
ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/packages-prom-exporter

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target

And run this command to enable und start the service:

sudo systemctl enable --now packages-prom-exporter.service

Let's see

For local testing, there are two Docker files in the Docker directory.

Ubuntu

cd Docker/ubuntu
docker build -t ubuntu20:latest .
docker run --rm -p 8000:8000 ubuntu20

Amazon Linux

cd Docker/al2
docker build -t al2:latest .
docker run --rm -p 8000:8000 al2
