PACE Strategy

In FortiPath, we use the PACE strategy for emergency planning. PACE stands for Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency. This strategy helps us to prepare for different scenarios and ensure that we have a plan in place for any situation.

What is PACE?

PACE is a planning methodology used in various fields, including military operations, project management, and emergency response. The acronym stands for:

  • Primary: The first and most preferred plan or method.
  • Alternate: The second plan or method, used if the primary plan is not feasible.
  • Contingency: The third plan or method, used if neither the primary nor the alternate plan can be implemented.
  • Emergency: The last resort plan or method, used in a worst-case scenario when none of the other plans are feasible.

How We Use PACE in FortiPath

In FortiPath, we use the PACE strategy in our emergency planning. For each type of potential emergency, we define a primary, alternate, contingency, and emergency role for each member of the protection team. This ensures that every team member knows what to do in any given situation, and that we have multiple backup plans in case the primary plan cannot be implemented.

Here's an example of how we might use PACE for a medical emergency:

  • Primary: The primary role might be to provide first aid to the principal.
  • Alternate: If the team member who is supposed to provide first aid is not available, the alternate role might be to call for medical help.
  • Contingency: If neither the primary nor the alternate plan can be implemented, the contingency role might be to evacuate the principal to a safe location.
  • Emergency: In a worst-case scenario, the emergency role might be to secure the area and protect the principal from further harm.

By defining these roles in advance and training all team members in their responsibilities, we can ensure a quick and effective response to any emergency.
