ByteCrypt is a simple and secure file encryption and decryption tool. This wiki will help you get started with installation and usage.

Installation

1. Download the latest release
   Go to the Releases page and download the latest archive (.7z file).

2. Extract the archive
   Use a program like 7-Zip to extract the contents to a folder of your choice.

3. Run the application
   Double-click ByteCrypt.exe inside the extracted folder to launch the program.
   Optional: The installer may automatically install Microsoft Edge WebView2 if needed.

4. Launch ByteCrypt
   After extraction and running the .exe, you can also create shortcuts for easy access.

First Steps

• Open ByteCrypt.
• Enter your encryption key (or use the default key).
• Select files to encrypt or decrypt using the buttons.
• Encrypted files are saved with a .byte extension, and decrypted files will restore their original extension.

Tip: Keep your encryption key safe! Losing it means you won’t be able to decrypt your files.
