Welcome to the Windows 98 Web Simulator wiki!
Windows 98 Web Simulator is a pure HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript project.
This project will never be monitized.
My goal is to provide a nostalgic adventure through the past through the aid of current web technologies. Users will eventually make or port their own programs into Windows 98 Web Simulator.
Back in 2015, for the basic [web] programming class in the Tech Support classes, where they teached some HTML and CSS, I already knew those languages very well, so I decided to learn Javascript alongside. For my final website project, I decided to add a Windows 98 styled start menu with some Javascript.
Later within the same year, I decided to start the Windows 98 Web Simulator alongside my first website where I could show the world who I am and what I can do. So I decided to work on the project for a while, adding and tweaking to the startmenu, and a few "apps". That year's version is still available to play with for historic reasons.
In late 2016, after resting the projects for quite a few months, I noticed my friend made a Javascript blur demo that uses the cursor position. There was an issue in Firefox he fixed later on. That reminded me that there was the same issue in my project, so I decided to jump back into it and re-work a lot of the code. Then renamed it to win98sm for short.
Up to this day, I've been keeping up with this project, adding, tweaking and modifying features like ever before.
