What is Virtual Router Manager?

Virtual Router Manager is a free, open source software based router for PCs running Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012. Using Virtual Router Plus, users can wirelessly share any internet connection (Wifi, LAN, Cable Modem, Dial-up, Cellular, etc.) with any Wifi device (Laptop, Smart Phone, iPod Touch, iPhone, Android Phone, Zune, Netbook, wireless printer, etc.) These devices connect to Virtual Router just like any other access point, and the connection is completely secured using WPA2 (the most secure wireless encryption.)

History

This project is based on codeplex project Virtual Router. Thanks for providing such a good open source software.

The first version of the programm was developed by Chris Pietschmann in 2009. In December 2012, I updated the first version and fixed all the bugs, then launched the 1.0 version which marks a new mindset also featuring tablet detection.

Throughout 2012, the programm has been updated constantly and we have received tons of feedback and requests. In March 2013 we moved to Codeplex in order to quickly accommodate the frequent updates and to involve more people.

We added tests to the source code that show the coverage of the Virtual Router Manager.

We also acquired http://maton.com.ua/en/virtualroutermanager will be the landing page promoting the docs and future versions.

Who do we target?

Developers, web designers and newbies who want to quickly detect mobile devices (including tablets) without in-depth knowledge of the process and who aren’t necessarily interested in investing in an API.
