Hmm, why :spotlessApply instead of spotlessApply? I don't think :spotlessApply will work, it only applies to the root project.

Ah you're totally right, it should be spotlessApply. I originally had it like that, but updated it to :spotlessApply because it looked like the tests were failing, and wasn't really thinking about the real differences between the two tasks.

I just pushed a revert of this change. The tests will still fail though — happy if anyone wants to try and fix them, otherwise I'm back from vacation in a week and a bit, so happy to fix them up when I'm back.
