We picked this region to analyze the traffic:

After removing secondary roads and buildings the region looks like this (the .osm file):

There are some screenshots with crossroads and traffic jams generated with parameters described below:

By varying the number of machines the following results were obtained:

A four-minute interval was considered. Using the graph above we observe that if number of cars is more then 100 then we have problems with traffic jams. Using the sources given below one can calculate that without metro line in this region more than 200 cars can move during the rush hour; hence we conclude that the traffic scheme was already almost unable to cope with the traffic.
