 We're very used to conducting our writing and document creation in things like Word or Google Docs, but that isn't the right tool for the job here.  Those programs are designed to create highly formatted text content for humans.  While you still have to interact with code as a human and that reading experience is important, you're creating code documents to send off the computer.  So you need to write your scripts in plain text.
