Migration to go modules and removal of Codeship dependency for CI

Package has been migrated to go module and the external dependency on Codeship has been removed (now uses GitHub Actions for CI). No functional or API changes.

Minor linter fixes

A few issues detected by gometalinter were addressed. No functional or API changes.

Initial release
