1. Motivation

My motivation for the project were the popular mobile apps and desktop virtual planetariums within which you can view the solar system as if you were looking through a telescope. The main one that comes to mind right now is Stellarium where you can find here: http://stellarium.org/. The main difference with my idea however is that this would be a device dedicated entirely for that purpose. It's almost as if you have a GameBoy available for viewing the solar system.
