Stats

Tough as Client comes with a few different stats. Stats are something that can increase or decrease over time, or depending on the environment and player action. If not maintained, stats will come with a downside. Below is a list of all stats:

The maximum number any stat can be is 82, and the minimum number any stat can be is 0.

Immediate Temperature

Immediate temperature is the value that the player's temperature will eventually reach.

For example, if the player is freezing in a tundra, then immediately enter a desert, the player's temperature will still be freezing, but the player's immediate temperature will be warm. Immediate temperature can be determined with a thermometer

Sanity

Sanity will decrease and increase depending on the environment or the conditions of the player. When the player's sanity goes below 40, the player will be unable to sleep.

There are a few ways to decrease sanity:

  • Staying underground
  • Being above ground during a new moon
  • Being in light level less than 3
  • Being too cold or too hot
  • Having health below 10
  • Having hunger below 10
  • Having thirst below 22
  • Holding a cursed lantern

And a few ways to increase sanity:

Insanity will be applied when sanity goes below 40, but will get worse as sanity continues to drop.

Insanity I is applied at sanity level 40 Insanity II is applied at sanity level 30 Insanity III is applied at sanity level 20 Insanity IV is applied at sanity level 10

The Sanity Bar

The sanity bar will display your current sanity. Unlike stamina, temperature, and thirst, the sanity bar is not always displayed. Sanity will not go down if the bar is not displayed. Conditions to display sanity bar:

  • Sanity is below 82
  • Player's y level is below 30

Stamina

Stamina will go down as the player does various actions, and can limit the player's actions when low. Stamina naturally regenerates without player action.

There are a few ways to decrease stamina:

  • Sprinting
  • Jumping
  • Breaking blocks
  • Using a crossbow/bow
  • Using a trident
  • Blocking with a shield
  • Swinging your hand

Stamina will regenerate over time without the requirement of player action. Holding shift will regenerate stamina faster. Having the strength effect will make the player regenerate stamina even faster. If the player has the speed effect applied, the player will not lose stamina by sprinting.

When the player reaches the last stage, the player will receive a status message informing them they are too tired to continue running.

Stages

There are three different stages in the stamina bar, as seen below:

bar

The first stage, or the rightmost/yellow stage, has the fastest regeneration of all stages, and is the largest of all stages. In this stage, the player does not receive any debuffs. This stage makes up 68% of the bar.

The second stage, or the middle/orange stage, has slower regeneration than the first stage. In this stage, the player cannot sprint. The player's FOV will also decrease. This stage makes up for 19% of the bar.

The third/last stage, or the leftmost/red stage, has the slowest regeneration of all the stages, and is the smallest of all stages. In this stage, the player is forced into sneaking, slowing the player down. The player's FOV will decrease by a larger amount. This stage makes up for 13% of the bar.

Temperature

Temperature is calculated by various variables, such as environmental temperature, and light level.

Some environmental factors that affects temperature:

  • Biome temperature
  • Daylight
  • Light level
  • If the player is in water/rain
  • If the player is standing on ice/snow
  • If the player is standing near a heating block

Some physical factors that affects temperature:

As the sun goes down, temperature will likely decrease. During the night, if a biome has a low humidity, temperatures will often plummet to freezing. Some biomes that show this behavior are deserts and savannahs. If a biome has a high humidity, the temperature at night will not drop too much.

Unlike other stats, temperature has a goal value, called immediate temperature. This is the value the player's temperature will eventually reach.

When the player's temperature goes above 74°, the player will receive the hyperthermia effect unless the player has fire resistance applied. Along with if the player's temperature goes below 8°, the player will receive hypothermia

Heating blocks

Heating blocks will increase the player's temperature depending on how far away they are from the source. The closer the player is to the source, the warmer they will be. Heating blocks consist of:

  • Campfires
  • Soul Campfires
  • Lava
  • Fire
  • Soul Fire
  • Magma Blocks
