Power Buses Diagram

The figure above shows the power connections between the modules. Energy is gathered from the solar panels, stored in the batteries and distributed for the modules by the EPS.

One connection comes from each panel, a total of six. Five from the Gomspace’s panels and one from the ISIS’s antenna module (solar panel on top). Each one has a voltage of 4,7 V and current of 500 mA at the maximum power point, totalizing 2,35 W.

Three of the six solar panels will have magnetorquers each one will pull a maximum of 100mA totalizing in 300mA. The connections to feed the current to them comes from the OBDH.

There is also a direct connection from the FS bottom Interface board that will be used to charge the batteries after the CubeSat is integrated.

EPS Buses Description

  • Bus name - Voltage/Current (PC104 reference): description
  1. Main Power Bus - 8,4V/3A (V_Main_Power): batteries’ voltage directed driven to the PC104. This power bus supplies the magnetorquers drivers at the OBDH. Also, it supplies the heater drivers and all the FloripaSat voltage regulators.

  2. EPS/Beacon - 3,3V/2A (R_EPS/Beacon): Powers EPS board logical and measurement blocks, the TT&C MSP microcontroller and the Beacon Radio.

  3. PA Transceiver Radio - 5V/5A (R_PA_Transc): Exclusive power bus for the Transceiver radio PA. Controlled by the OBDH.

  4. PA Beacon - 5V/5A (R_PA_Beacon): Exclusive power bus for the beacon radio PA. Controlled by the Beacon microcontroller.

  5. Antenna Module - 3,3V/2A (R_Ant): Exclusive power bus for the microcontrollers and deploy circuits located at the antenna module.

  6. OBDH/Transceiver radio/solar panel sensors - 3,3V/1A (R_OBDH/Transc/SP): Power bus for OBDH board, the Transceiver radio at TT&C, and the sensors circuits of the solar panels.

  7. RUSH - 5V/3A (R_RUSH): General 5 voltage bus located at the PC104 planned for the RUSH payload.
