Current naming scheme

idea: A 3-letter subscript where the first letter describes the growth scheme used in the model, the second letter describes division, and the third letter describes the respiration + exudation scheme. Net growth/respiration is marked by an extra symbol in the subscript. This scheme generalizes better to the non-core models we may have in the appendix (m6 and m8 have net growth/respiration and also size-dependent respiration).

position meaning
growth 1 b(asic), s(ize-dependent)
division 2 m(onotonic), l(ight-dependent)
respiration 3 x (none), b(asic), s(ize-dependent)
4 extra symbol "-" indicates net growth/respiration

"growth-division-respiration subscript" scheme

idea: A 3-letter subscript where the first letter describes the growth scheme used in the model, the second letter describes division, and the third letter describes the respiration + exudation scheme.

position meaning
growth 1 b(asic), s(ize-dependent)
division 2 m(onotonic), l(ight-dependent)
respiration 3 x (none), b(asic), n(et growth/respiration)
working title proposed name
m2 mbmx
m4 mbmb
m5 mbmn
m12 msmb
m14 mslb

looks good to me... maybe just differentiate the two b's? For respiration the letters could be: x (none), g(ross), n(et growth/respiration)? So we'd have:

working title proposed name note
m2 mbmx
m4 mbmg
m5 mbmn
m12 msmg
m14 mslg
non-core
m1 mbfx requires new letter, using f for free delta/division
m3 msmx
m6 msmr requires new letter, using r for net and size-dependent
m7 msms requires new letter, using s for size-dependent respiration
m8 mslr
m9 msls
m10 mbln
m11 msmn
m13 msln
