It will be essentially developed with PHP/MySQL, however using new interesting related technologies ; Html5, Ajax, jQuery, etc is highly recommended. The mysqli_ extension should be used exclusively for interfacing between PHP and MySQL (the use of mysql_ is prohibited), in particular you must use "prepared statements" to secure the application against any potential SQL injection.
