This Master's thesis aims to develop an artificial intelligence model capable of predicting cloud movement using segmented sky images. Clouds play a crucial role in regulating solar radiation, and their movement and behavior are challenging to predict accurately. The study proposes two models: one based on raw sky images and another using segmented cloud masks. To assess their performance, different metrics such as Mean Squared Error (MSE), Intersection over Union (IoU), and Dice Coefficient were used. The results indicate that the model using segmented masks performs similarly or even slightly better than the one using raw images. This suggests that cloud movement prediction using segmented masks is a feasible technique, with potential to enhance the efficiency of solar energy management systems.
