The Dystopia Tracker is a News Nerd Program collaboration between David Bauer and Journalism++.

We live in a time where dystopian predictions from the past are realised in ever shorter intervals. Edward Snowden’s NSA-revelations are just the most prominent example for this. Coverage of new technologies often draws comparisons to earlier predictions in literature, TV or movies. However, those comparisons remain anecdotal, the big picture is missing.

The Dystopia Tracker aims at providing the big picture. By gathering predictions in a structured way and linking them to actual realisations, it will allow for deeper insights and make patterns visible.

The Dystopia will be a web-application to which anyone can contribute data. It will be both a tool for users to explore and journalists or researchers to actively work with.
