bio: Fawaz received his bachelor's in Biotechnology Engineering from the University of Aleppo in 2015, during his bachelor's he also studied at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg for a year. He received his master's in Bioinformatics from the University of Saarland in Germany in 2019 and started his PhD at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland then transferred to University Hosptial Düsseldorf in 2020. He is supervised jointly by Prof. Dr. Olga Kalinina and Prof. Dr. Tobias Marschall. Research interests include pangenomics, genome graphs, genome assembly, and sequence algorithms.
