Change of pre-built VM image release schedule
This repository should first and foremost enable you to build your own VM images. The binary releases are just examples.
Starting with OPNsense 25.1, pre-built VM images will only be published for major releases (25.1, 25.7, 26.1 etc.).
If there is actual demand for up-to-date images (updated about every two weeks, following the official schedule), these will be made available through a monthly sponsorship. Additionally, customized images can now be requested through a one-time sponsorship.
OPNsense 25.1 VM images

All disk images have a GUID partition table (GPT), EFI system partition (ESP), 4 GB UFS root partition and no swap partition. Disk images must be expanded to the desired size before first boot (qemu-img resize

). During first boot, the root partition and its file system automatically grow to fill all available space. If swap is required, a 2 GB swap file can be enabled in 'System: Settings: Miscellaneous'.
