"OI Notepad" is an open source app for managing personal notes on Android devices ("OI" stands for "Open Intents"). You have to install this app on your Android device to be able to synchronize notes with ChBoSync.

The developers of ChBoSync are NOT related to the developers of "OI Notepad".

Obtaining OI Notepad:

The app can also be obtained via F-Droid, which is an alternative app store that offers only open source apps:

F-Droid has its own app store client app for the installation of apps, but you can also download the installation files (APK files) using the web frontend.

ChBoSync version 1.4 was successfully tested with OI Notepad 1.5.4.

Known Limitations

Versions 1.0 and 1.1 of ChBoSync will NOT work together with version 1.5.3 of "OI Notepad", which was released on 6th of November 2015 in Google's official app store. The reason for this is that as of version 1.5.3 of "OI Notepad" this app's content provider is protected by a permission, which is not declared by ChBoSync so far. Should be fixed as of version 1.2 of ChBoSync.

Workaround: Install an older version of "OI Notepad" on your device, e.g. version 1.4.0.7, which can be downloaded as APK file from this web page.

Further Information

For more information about "OI Notepad" see:

The data exchange between ChBoSync and OI Notepad is realized using a so called Content Provider.

Syncing notes with a Horde server

When using a Horde Groupware Server, then you can have several notebooks. If there is more than just one notebook, then ChBoSync seems to sync only the first notebook, whereas "first" means the first notebook according to the alphabetical order (i.e. the notebook that is the upper-most one in the list of notebooks on the left side of the WebUI).

Encrypted notes

OI Notepad can encrypt individual notes if the companion app OI Safe is also installed on the device. However, syncing of encrypted notes is not supported by ChBoSync.
