Decorated Stem

Leon Starr edited this page Jan 14, 2025 · 1 revision

A Stem that displays an icon, label or both is a Decorated Stem.

So, an arrow on a transition in an xUML state machine diagram, for example, is displayed on a Stem at a to state Stem Position representing the target state Stem Semantic.

On a class diagram in many notations, Starr, xUML, Shlaer-Mellor, no label or text is used to signify the subclass face Stem Position. So any Stem at this position will not be a Decorated Stem.
