With changes in #82, I managed to upgrade R from 4.1 to 4.3. However, the current Conda installation is having trouble installing R 4.4; solving the environment invariably fails.
This might have to do with us using an obsolete version of Conda (4.13.0 while the latest available is 24.5.0). This, in turn, is limited by the fact that the cluster only has Python version 3.6 (very old), and Conda 4.13.0 is the latest one that still supports it.
Alternatively, this may be caused by other Conda-installed R dependencies.
