Ionization electrons are drifted through the active volume using the electron lifetime passed via a configuration parameter as a property of the gas. The value of this parameter can be the one measured in the real detector.
In the EL region the electric field is much higher, so is the electron lifetime, which we cannot measure in the detector. Therefore, we assume that in the EL region the electron lifetime is infinite (1000 ms). This value is also passed to the FakeGrid
optical material properties assigned to the dielectric volumes serving as grids.
