Summary of Changes
Hello @ti-chi-bot, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request enhances the pd-ctl command-line tool's documentation by adding a crucial warning. The update aims to prevent misconfigurations in production environments by guiding users to the recommended procedures for safely removing PD nodes, rather than using a potentially disruptive command.
Highlights
- Documentation Update: Added a critical warning note to the
pd-ctldocumentation, specifically for themember deletecommand. - Production Environment Guidance: The new note explicitly advises users not to use
member deletefor removing PD nodes in a production environment. - Reference to Safe Procedures: Provided direct links to the official documentation for the correct and safe methods of scaling in a TiDB/PD/TiKV cluster and manually scaling TiDB on Kubernetes.

Thanks for adding this important note. To improve clarity and accuracy, I have a few suggestions for the second sentence:1
- It's better to use "or" instead of "and" since a user will choose one of the two methods depending on their deployment.
- The link text "Manually Scale TiDB on Kubernetes" is a bit misleading, as scaling on Kubernetes is typically done with TiDB Operator, which is an automated tool. I've updated it to "Scale a TiDB Cluster on Kubernetes".
- I've also updated the Kubernetes link to point directly to the
scale-insection of the document, which is more helpful for the user in the context of removing a node.
