Wars Of Warp

An implementation of a simple map generator for "WarpWar." The original game was designed by Howard M. Thompson and is copyright by Metagaming Concepts.

The most recent release of WoW is hosted at wraith.dev/wow. You can download example maps in color or black-and-white or generate your own.

Running your own server

Building

1. Install Go.
2. Run go build in the root directory.

Running

Create a file locally

1. Update the data in cli/create.go.
2. Run ./wow create.

Web Server

1. Run ./wow server.
2. Open the page in your browser. It defaults to localhost:8080/wow.
3. There are links for the "standard" map in color or black-and-white, as well as for generating a random map.
4. To create a custom map, add your data to the text area and click the button.
5. The server will return an SVG that you can save.

Data Example

CSV

The CSV record contains "name, column, row, economic-value, warp-target".

A star may have multiple warp targets (that's the star the warp line leads to) by adding multiple names at the end of the record.

FWIW, this is my starter:

To get this to work, I built the project and copied the executable into the bin directory. I then copied the contents of the public directory into the WorkingDirectory from the service file.

You can view logs with

sudo journalctl -u wow.service
