What is EasyCPDLC?

Controller Pilot Datalink Communications (CPDLC) is an aeronautical data transfer system that allows transmission of instructions, queries and requests via textual messages, as opposed to using radiocommunications. Its primary purpose is to reduce RTF congestion and to facilitate easier and less workload-intensive transmission of non-urgent messages; particularly in areas where radio coverage is unreliable, or where HF radios were mandated due to distance from transceivers.

EasyCPDLC was developed to facilitate use of CPDLC through the Hoppie network on VATSIM via an easy-to-use client, for users who fly aircraft that do not have CPDLC capability built in. It is designed with ease of setup and ease of use as core principles, avoiding lengthy setups and complicated UIs and windows.
