The Recommender looks at current entities of a user and tries to recommend additional ones to him. For example:

Based on the band you currently listen to, new band with similar style are recommended
Friends of friends that visited the same venue as you might be recommended.

Fan: no spam.
Fan: beginner-friendly.
Fan: Information retrieval.
Band: self promotion
Other Websites: receive services from Metalcon.
