cap-spec stands for Content / Creative AI Profile specification. It builds a framework for auditing AI content workflows. The tool uses Safe Refusal Provenance (SRP) to provide proof that certain content was not generated by an AI. This is essential for complying with regulations around AI use.
To run cap-spec, you need:
- Operating System: Windows 10 or later, or macOS Mojave or later
- RAM: At least 4 GB required
- Storage: Minimum 200 MB of free space
- Network: Internet access for certain features
- Visit the Releases Page: Go to the Releases page.
- Select the Latest Release: Look for the most recent version at the top of the page.
- Click on the Download Link: Find the file (like
.exeor.dmg) for your operating system and click on it to download. - Run the Installer:
- On Windows: Locate the downloaded
.exefile, double-click it, and follow the prompts. - On macOS: Open the downloaded
.dmgfile, drag the application to your Applications folder, and launch it from there.

Once installed, follow these steps to use cap-spec:

- Generate Reports: Click on “Generate Report” to check the authenticity and compliance status of your content.
SRP is a unique feature in cap-spec that allows you to prove that certain content was not created by an AI, enhancing trust in your workflows.
While cap-spec is designed mainly for AI-generated content, it can also be helpful for maintaining overall audit trails in creative workflows.
Currently, cap-spec is only available for desktop environments, focusing on user experience and functionality on Windows and macOS.
